The advantages of BIO-IC internal circulation anaerobic reactor are based on the design of a two-stage three-phase separator. The internal circulation anaerobic reactor, through the action of internal circulation, is like the "Tai Chi" in China, which dissolves the interference of gas production on sludge loss into the disturbance of the bottom sludge bed layer's reflux stirring energy, turning harm into benefit.

The development trend of efficient anaerobic reactors is to extend the retention time of sludge and shorten the hydraulic retention time, that is, SLR>HLR. BIO-IC internal circulation anaerobic reactors can achieve excellent sludge retention time, reaching hundreds of days, while the hydraulic retention time can be shortened to a few hours.

Due to the need for three-phase separators to balance gas collection and weaken solid-liquid separation, internal circulation anaerobic reactors should be used with caution for anaerobic treatment of wastewater with calcification or high salinity that cannot form good granular sludge.
